Demetra Demetriadou studied law and obtained Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Kent, in the UK, in 2010. In 2010, she returned to Cyprus and became a trainee lawyer, undertaking the Cyprus Bar Association exams and passing all the required exams from her first attempt, and thus becoming a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and a fully qualified practising lawyer from 2011.
Demetra worked in a law office, specialising in corporate law. She handled preparation and review of a variety of agreements, as well as cross border mergers, reorganisations, liquidations and the respective court processes needed for these in addition to any other court processes for corporate issues, such as share capital decrease.
Demetra successfully completed the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales exams, passing all the required exams from her first attempt, without any prior exemptions. She holds the ACA qualification from 2016, and also obtained the ICAEW Business and Finance Professional status from 2018. She rose the ranks from staff accountant internally within the firm, and was admitted to partnership and became a director (Tax & Legal Director) of Crowe Cyprus Limited in 2018.
She now manages the tax team at Crowe Cyprus, and has over 10 years of accounting, audit, tax and VAT experience, where she has gathered expertise in the areas of tax and VAT, preparing financial statements and auditing entities in the investment and finance sectors as well as trading companies, including both local and international clients.
She also has experience in advising on VAT and tax issues of both local and international clients, as well as providing tax opinions and tax ruling procedures. She also works on tax due diligence projects.
Her responsibilities include maintaining ongoing communication with clients, managing assignments delegated to the tax department and contributing towards the training of junior staff.
She handles the assignments in relation to Country by Country Reporting, ATAD and DAC6.
She is handling all GDPR issues of the Company and of clients.
As part of the tax team, she is in contact with and needs to collaborate with colleagues and with Tax Officers of the Cyprus Tax Office, as well as with clients.
