Helen is the youngest of five organisers and a co-founder of Cyprus Comic Con (CCC), a non-profit NGO that has grown into one of Cyprus’s largest and most impactful cultural events. Since 2012, CCC has expanded from a small gathering into a massive three-day convention and outdoor festival, drawing over 20,000 – 30,000 attendees annually, including visitors from across Europe and the Middle East.
An architecture graduate turned self-taught web developer, Helen brings a rare blend of creative and technical skills. She carries out the work of a full-time organiser across nearly every area: from planning and stage production to managing CCC’s website, ticketing system, and volunteer operations. She also leads the cosplay competitions, which regularly send Cypriot winners to represent the country internationally at events like the Europa Cosplay Cup in France.
CCC has become a major platform for artists, creatives, and small businesses, offering them exposure they might not otherwise reach. Its broad appeal also attracts local and international sponsors, and the event now includes STEM-focused educational content through workshops and expert panels in collaboration with schools, universities, and institutions.
Helen’s consistency, adaptability, and dedication are core to CCC’s ongoing success. More than an event, CCC has become a home for people to connect through their interests, and Helen is a key reason that space exists.
Cyprus Comic Con wouldn’t be what it is today without her. /
I’d like to nominate Helen for the Young Dragon Awards for her exceptional work as a co-founder and the youngest of five organisers of Cyprus Comic Con (CCC). She has been at the heart of CCC from the very beginning, demonstrating remarkable dedication and passion for this non-profit NGO, which has grown into one of Cyprus’ largest and most impactful cultural events.
Since 2012, what began as a small gathering has grown into a massive three-day convention and outdoor festival, drawing over 20,000 – 30,000 attendees each year, including visitors from across Europe and the Middle East. CCC has become a major player in Cyprus’ creative and tourism landscape, supporting hundreds of artists, small businesses, and performers annually, and leaving a lasting impact on thousands of lives.
Helen is a driving force behind CCC’s success. An architecture graduate turned self-taught web developer, she brings a rare combination of creative thinking and technical skill. Her role spans nearly every part of the convention: from event planning, stage production and volunteer coordination to managing the website, ticketing system and much more behind the scenes. She also runs CCC’s cosplay competitions, which regularly send winners abroad to represent Cyprus at international events like the Europa Cosplay Cup in France.
CCC attracts a wide mix of teenagers, young families, creatives, and fans from across the island and beyond, all brought together in one vibrant space centred around pop culture. Its broad appeal and reach have made it a powerful platform for exposure: independent artists and small businesses gain access to audiences they might not otherwise reach, while local and international companies now seek out CCC for sponsorship and collaboration.
Helen’s consistency, adaptability, and commitment are core to the convention’s continued growth. For many people, CCC is more than an event, it’s a space where they finally feel at home with their interests, in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Helen makes that possible. Her work empowers people to express themselves, connect, and belong. Simply put, Cyprus Comic Con wouldn’t be what it is today without her.
