Years in current position: 1.5

Tanya is a transformative leader whose work has redefined Cyprus’ position on the global tech map. Through two major initiatives; the scaling of TechIsland and the founding and leadership of Women in Tech Cyprus; she has made a lasting impact on the tech ecosystem and society at large.
As General Manager of TechIsland, Cyprus’ largest tech association, Tanya has driven the rapid expansion of a community that now boasts over 350 member companies, employing more than 20,000 people and contributing more than 8 billion annually to the country’s economy. Her leadership has been central to advancing strategic policy advocacy, helping shape a business environment that fosters innovation, attracts international talent, and supports the growth of tech enterprises.
Under Tanya’s direction, TechIsland has gone beyond being an industry association; it has become a catalyst for national economic transformation. She works closely with government officials to advocate for policies that benefit the tech sector, including tax reforms, digitalization initiatives, and talent visa programs. Thanks to her efforts, Cyprus is increasingly recognized as a growing European tech destination, offering stability, opportunity, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem. TechIsland’s success is a testament to Tanya’s strategic vision: mobilizing a collective voice to drive meaningful change at a national level.
Complementing this macro-level impact is Tanya’s deeply personal commitment to advancing gender diversity in tech through her leadership of Women in Tech Cyprus. Tanya was one of the initiators of the Cyprus chapter, recognizing the urgent need to support and elevate women in a sector historically lacking in female representation. Today, she leads the chapter’s activities with a hands-on approach; engaging stakeholders across the private sector, government, and academia, designing programs, and serving as the chapter’s public face and most vocal advocate.
Under Tanya’s leadership, Women in Tech Cyprus has become the country’s premier platform for female tech professionals. She launched the country’s first Women in STEM Forum, bringing together hundreds of leaders, policymakers, and changemakers to create momentum around gender inclusion in tech and science fields. Her advocacy extends beyond events: she is a visible and persuasive public speaker who addresses systemic barriers and promotes actionable solutions for increasing female participation in the tech economy.
Together, TechIsland and Women in Tech Cyprus exemplify Tanya’s dual approach to impact: building ecosystems at scale while empowering individuals at the grassroots level. Through these initiatives, she has expanded economic opportunity, challenged the status quo, and inspired a new generation of tech leaders.
Tanya’s work demonstrates that creating a thriving tech economy and fostering diversity are not mutually exclusive goals but interconnected missions. Tanya has proven that with vision, collaboration, and determination, it is possible to transform not only industries but also communities.
