I am pleased to recommend Dr. Mikellidou for the Young Dragon Professional Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership, academic excellence, and impact on institutional development.
Dr. Mikellidou has been leading the Department of Psychology since its establishment. She played a pivotal role in building the department from the ground up, assembling and supporting a team of 14 academics, including visiting professors. Under her guidance, the department has grown into a vibrant academic unit known for its collaborative spirit and high standards.
One of her major accomplishments was overseeing the successful accreditation of the Department of Psychology, including both the BSc in Psychology and the BSc in Educational Psychology. This was a significant achievement, particularly for a newly formed department. In the year that followed, Dr. Mikellidou continued to lead the team with the same commitment and vision, contributing to the development of additional academic programmes, which are currently under accreditation, expanding the department’s educational offerings.
In addition to her leadership role, Dr. Mikellidou is a distinguished researcher. She has published in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in the area of Cognitive Neuroscience and has successfully secured external research funding further enhancing the university’s academic profile.
What sets Dr. Mikellidou apart is not only her professional achievements but also her character. She is a role model to her colleagues and consistently offers mentorship and support to her team. Her ability to lead with integrity, foster growth, and maintain academic excellence makes her an ideal candidate for the Young Dragon Professional Award.
I wholeheartedly support her nomination.
